I am aware of two email marketing style – using Autoresponder and follow-up emails through the list of prospects collected through a landing page. There are probably a few more techniques to gather email list but I’ll just use these two techniques for my sites and landing pages.

So what’s so great about email marketing?

Well, I am not too sure myself yet. I have to use it myself before saying anything good or bad about it. But from what I read from other blogs, the bigger your list is means more money to you. So this is going to be my goal for the year 2011 – build a mailing list and actually do something with it. This is going to be something quite important so I am going to prepare a proper planning before moving ahead with the campaign. And I’ll update you guys with the progress. Good luck to me!

Earlier on, I mentioned about how we can grow our mailing list by becoming a guest blogger on a blog in the same niche market.

And today let us discuss some of the techniques that we can use to drive traffic to our landing page and take action. Let me be honest, a nicely written landing page is useless if there’s no one that’s going to pay any attention to it. And when there’s no one visiting your landing page, you won’t get any result that you desire. It could cost you a lot of lost.

One of the most effective way that you can use to drive traffic to your landing page is by submitting articles to article directories and also web 2.0 sites like Hubpages and Squidoo. But then, you won’t make a dime if you write about something that no one wants to read about.

The real question that you should ask yourself the next time you start writing any article is to find out what are the information that people are searching for so that your brain cells doesn’t die in vain.

So, how do you find out what kind of topic that are in high demand and low supply?

For me, I would usually find out what are the information that people are looking for and the keywords that they type in the search engine. I personally use AdWords Analyzer keyword research tool to make sure that the article that I publish on article directories will be ranked highly on keyword terms with high daily search volumes.

Sounds simple? Well. Why don’t you try it and see if it works. ;)

Have you ever thought the possibility of growing your mailing list by becoming a guest blogger? There are several factors that you need to consider to make sure that you will get the maximum exposure:

* You can call me prejudice but I wouldn’t consider becoming a guest blogger on blogs that are hosted on free platforms such as blogspot.com and wordpress.com. It’s because these blog owners are giving me the impression that they can’t afford to pay their webhosting. So, do you think they make money online. Doubtful.

*Do your own due dilligence. I will be more than happy to guest blog for blogs with great and original contents.

* How’s the Alexa , Technorati ranking and Google PR value? This is quite important, especially if you don’t have too much time to write guest blogpost for too many blogs.

* See if there are already a lot of comments in older post. Spam comments doesn’t count. This is important because you wouldn’t want to be the only person to comment and read the blog post later on. The more genuine comments means more people are reading the blog and they could be the very person that will joining your mailing list.

So, you asked, how to look for great blogs that are accepting guest blogpost?

Very easy. I would suggest you to do a search on blogSearch from Google by keying in the your target keywords and +guest blog. Not too difficult, right?

Blogging is about discussion. Contribute to the discussion and leave constructive comments. You might even get a free backlink and get featured in the next blog post if he like your comment.

Unlike article directories, you don’t have to wait for approval from the editors to get your article published. And even better, you can link directly to your affliate link without getting your article rejected.

If your article is interesting enough, you might even get a backlink to your article pages. And that will definitely increase the search engine ranking for your article pages. Leveraging your viral marketing efforts on article writing can be rewarding, if done right. In the real sense, you are actually proving your worth and demonstrating your expertise about your business through the articles you write.

So, how can this method in effect build your mailing list?

For article directories, it would have been your resouce box, where you can include a brief detail about yourself and your business site URL. But for sites like HubPages and Squidoo, you can just embed the link anywhere that you find relevant, provided you didn’t overdo it.

And to get the maximum amount of exposure to your article, get someone to stumble your article and there is a high chance that you will get a sudden surge of traffic to your article page. And, if your articles are found worth sharing, there will always going to be someone that will link to it. That’s a huge bonus! ;)
